  • In my notes column for July 2, I wrote that Georgia mascot UGA VI was flown from Athens to Savannah for burial. It was actually the other way around. The bulldog was buried at Sanford Stadium.

    Comments

Pitino says no. Calipari says no. Thad Matta says he would say no "IF" UK would approach him. One can only hope to goodness that Barnhart follows the wishes of the fan support and is making contact with Donovan through a third party. The fear is one that Barnhart is going to go after someone he prefers, not the fan base and we could end up with someone from Oregon (again).

Here's one from Greg Doyel that says Donovan should take the job. http://cbs.sportsline.com/columns/story/10091235

Anybody hear Tom Friend on Jim Rome is Burning today? He said that there was a clause in Donovan's contract that stated that he couldn't come to Kentucky. Somebody explain to me how ESPN was able to corner the market on morons.

John did you really link to the UF student paper? If I worked at the Kernel I would be mad that you never link up any of their fine work.

If Donovan wins two titles in a row at Florida, something that hasn't been done in 15 years and only by a handful of teams ever, how is he ever going to be good enough for UK?

Chances are, his career will be defined by his two titles in a row at Florida, not by what he does at UK.
He's a great coach and could win another ring or two in Lexington, but since no coach has won a title at two different schools, odds are against it.

Also, Mr. Clay, I've often thought that Pitino has ultimately been hurting UK's program since he left.
Without a doubt, Tubby's downfall was his inability to live up to Pitino's legacy. And with Pitino being in the state, so close to the program, his shadow is still large over the BBN.

Donovan would not only have to live under Pitino's shadow and live up to Pitino's legacy, but he would also have to live up to his own Florida legacy. Not an easy situation.

Maybe you could do a piece along those lines someday.

Here's a thought. Before LSU can steal Mickie DeMoss to coach their women's team why not make history and hire her to coach the UK men's team?

The Scarbinsky article is great and funny. Now playing the role of David Hobbs.......John Pelphrey?

Regardless of whom we get, no one will ever accuse them of winning with Tubby's players.
